Danniella was a member of the East Midlands Regional team that won the girls event at the National Finals. Along with team members Jessica Shieles (Grimsby College) and Holy Clyburn (Grimsby College) they returned a total of 238 to beat the South East region (249) by 11 shots. Jessica Shieles also won the individual with a two round total of 153.

Danniella qualified for the National finals in October 2008 at the East Midlands Regional event held at Morley Hayes where the top four girls and top four boys won through to represent the East Midlands Colleges.

Danniella, a member of the PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY education and player training programme based at Morley Hayes Golf Complex commented: “ I am delighted with the result, to qualify for the Nationals finals was an achievement in itself but to win a Gold medal puts the icing on the cake.”

Dean Hibbert and Nico Pickard also qualified to represent the East Midlands region in the boys event, but they didn’t fair so well finishing in eight place.

Performance Golf Academy programme director Nigel Furniss explained;
“ We are really pleased with Danniella, Nico and Dean performances, this is the first time Derby College has had any representatives competing in the golf event at the National Finals. We will be working hard with the students to gain qualification again next year”
