Our team have worked at National and International level delivering player training programmes for the England Golf Team through to professional players on the world tours.
The team have been involved in International research providing them with the expertise to train golfers to improve their performance and achieve excellence.
NIGEL FURNISS
Performance Director

Nigel has worked as Performance Director for the English Golf Union responsible for the successful development, management and implementation of their World Class Performance Programme.
He has also worked extensively with players, supporting them with their planning and management of schedules focused at improving performance and achieving player’s annual goals.
Following his previous experiences and research into golf programmes around the world and across Olympic sport he strongly believes in helping players to build a structured and planned programme of training and preparation centred on their personal goals and aspirations.
All our efforts are focused at helping players to “Plan for Success”.
KEITH WILLIAMS
PGA Master Professional
Top 25 UK Golf Coach

Keith has worked as National Coach to both England and the Czech Republic golf teams, played on the European Tour and represented Wales in the World Cup.
Keith has a wealth of knowledge as a golf coach which is complimented by his understanding of how Sport Science & Sports Medicine can support the golfer in their development.
Keith is coach to several tour players and many other successful golfers and was one of the first PGA professionals to be awarded Master Professional status by the Professional Golfers’ Association. Keith has also been named as one of the top 25 coaches in the UK by Golf Monthly.
Keith has extensive National & International experience of training players for performance having worked on player development programmes for a period of over 25 years.
Keith’s philosophy is to educate players about their body and the golf swing and guide them to become technically efficient and independent.

Dr. BRIAN HEMMINGS
Lead Psychologist

Dr. Brian Hemmings is a consultant chartered sport psychologist. He has been the lead psychologist to the England golf team for over a decade delivering high performance strategies with European and World Championship winning teams and individuals at men’s, youth and junior level.
During this time he has helped develop the mental skills of the best young emerging English golfers including the likes of Ross Fisher, Richard Finch, Nick Dougherty, Oliver Fisher, Oliver Wilson, Ross McGowan, Rob Dinwiddie, Paul Waring, Danny Willett, Zane Scotland, James Heath, David Horsey, Seve Benson and more recently Open Championship silver medallist Chris Wood, along with Walker Cup players such as Jamie Moul and amateur legend Gary Wolstenhome.
Brian has continued to work with many of these players into their professional careers on the various European tours. He is also the performance psychologist to the English Women’s Golf Association and is the author of the CD ‘In the Zone: Simple Mental Skills to Improve Your Golf’ and the book ‘Mental Toughness for Golf’. He is a regular presenter on the PGA CPD programme and has presented at the PGA National Conference.
Brian has a wealth of experience in other sports, having worked with championship winning individuals and teams in professional football and cricket, 12 medallists in Olympic and Commonwealth Games boxing, and podium winners in single seat motor racing including Formula 1.

BOB WOOD
Lead Physiologist

Since qualifying as a Chartered Physiotherapist Bob has spent many years running a successful private practice, and also has a functional training studio. He has produced numerous articles on all aspects of health and fitness, which have been published in magazines, national newspapers and radio.
Bob has written chapters and contributions within fitness books, medical textbooks and other media. He has been a regular writer for golfing magazines and publications for the past 8 years, including Today’s Golfer, Golf World and Fore magazines… see www.physicalgolf.co.uk.
Bob is a consultant to Loughborough University, Badminton England, and England Golf, and works with a wide range of professional athletes varying from the field of golf to motor racing. As a co-founder of Physical Solutions he has written and delivered numerous training courses for Coaches, P.T’s and medical professionals.
Bobs passion is the field of motor development, physical training and long-term athlete development, designing and presenting resources to be used in education, rehab and sport.
Bob is also involved in developing children’s Physical Education and core movement skills at a national curriculum level.
He is no more than an average golfer, an enthusiastic but uncultured tennis player, and barely competes in amateur motor racing.
STEVE ASTLE
Technical Coach

Steve is a PGA Professional who graduated with an overall distinction as a Top 10 PGA Trainee of the Year.
A graduate of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Steve has over 15 years golfing experience and delivers quality coaching sessions which include international and overseas experience in Austria and New Zealand.
Steve is coach to many Midland professionals and top British amateurs, helping many of them to develop their games to the highest level possible. Steve is a firm believer in teaching the individual to understand their own game and what makes it work and where it breaks down. Steve specializes in long term game development.
Steve has also assisted over 30 UK students/athletes in finding Golf Scholarships in America and is now also working for the British PGA in training and overseeing tutors on the new UKCC programme.

JAMES WHATLEY
Technical Coach

James is a qualified PGA Golf Professional and has a track record of improving players of all levels, recently resulting in him being appointed Head Coach to Derbyshire County Ladies.
In 2007 he finished 3rd in The British Club Pros Championships and represented Great Britain and Ireland in the PGA Cup against the USA. James also won the 2007 Derbyshire Professionals Championship and finished the year representing England in the International Team Championships.
James has always resisted the temptation to teach one method to all players. He prefers to maintain an open mind and apply techniques that compliment players’ physique and mind set.

DOM TAYLOR
MANAGER GOLF EDUCATION
Dom Taylor is the academic course leader for the academy and has been with the academy since its introduction. Dom has 13 years experience of lecturing and tutoring in sport, and working in the fitness industry in both the public and private sector. Dom has recently been responsible for installing a high tech analysis lab at Derby College which includes indoor golf facilities.
As well as his role as lead tutor on the programme Dom is also the National Manager of the Lee Westwood Golf Academy. These academies cater for children between the ages of 7 – 16 over the summer weeks. Dom uses this role to enhance the students’ education by offering work experience placements on these prestigious academies.
Dom also has an active role within British Colleges Sport, working on the organising group for the National golf championships as well as the BCS Open Golf Championships at St.Andrews.
